We are getting so excited to begin our journey to join Mercy Ships and are thrilled to have you join us! I thought we would start this blog to keep in touch with all of our family and friends, but also to record all of our adventures. We leave June 1st, 2021 to spend a few weeks with my sister in Austin, Texas before Mercy Ship training in Lindale, Texas. From there we will be in Belgium, South Africa and will eventually end up moored in port on the coast of Madagascar for ten month. When I first heard that we were going to be going to Madagascar I was wondering why Mercy Ships would choose this location because assumed that this country was not as poor as other places in Africa. After researching a bit about Madagascar, I quickly realized how wrong I was. Despite a wealth of abundant and diverse natural resources, Madagascar is one of the poorest countries in the world. Check out this video with more information about Madagascar.

So glad that I saw you this afternoon before you fly out on June 1st. What an amazing journey you and your family are about to experience! I have viewed a few of the videos on the site to familiarize myself with Mercy Ships . All I can say is .... wow!!They are very fortunate to have you volunteer and the children will certainly benefit from all your wonderful talents and teaching skills. Best wishes!

Which port will you be getting to in Mad? I might have connections if you are making it to Fort Dauphin, Tulear, or Mahajunga.
Lived and ministered in Madagascar for 7 years with the Betsileo people of Fianar. Loved the people and great experience. Soavadia ary tahin' Andriamanitra e!
